Air Quality

The plan for Yokohl Ranch is the foundation for the comprehensive approach to addressing air quality impacts and therefore, creating comprehensive air quality solutions in Yokohl Ranch. Given this, Yokohl Ranch includes a wide array of air quality solutions that will help achieve the following:

  • Play a proactive role in improving air quality beyond compliance with Air District regulations through the implementation of a Voluntary Emission Reduction Agreement (VERA). The Yokohl Ranch VERA is the first of its kind in Tulare County
The VERA was unanimously approved by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Board in May 2010 and commits Yokohl Ranch to voluntarily invest up to $10,000,000 to reduce net criteria pollutant emission impacts (those which create smog) to zero impact levels
  • Assist in the state’s goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels (greenhouse gas emissions are generated from everyday activities including residential, commercial, and industrial use)

The air quality plan for Yokohl Ranch features regulatory reductions and community design components that include:

  • Energy Efficient Designs & Alternative Energy Sources (including photovoltaic solar panels on institutional structures)
  • Water Conservation Programs
  • Emission-Reduction Features Associated with Construction Activities
